I write this letter, and it might just rhyme, to make it flow and sing – it’s my very heart at this time. Children, my love is so deep that words can never express – no words can touch the depth of my love, but I want you to know one important thing- I did teach it to you so very long ago – even when you were only 1 day old. I sang you this song to put you to sleep. I sang you this song to remind me…you are mine on loan, but you are His to keep.
“Jesus loves me this I know, for the Bible tells me so. Little one’s to Him belong, they are weak, but He is strong…”
I watched you grow, so fast, so very fast. And there were times that I actually thought this moment would last, but you’ve grown now so big and you’ve been through so much – I want to give you the moon, but perhaps better than that, I can give you the Son…because with Him, it’s all there – He’s the One it’s all at.
He’s got the whole world in His hand, and you’re His special treasure. I spent so much time when you were young to make sure you knew, so that when you were grown, you would know what to do. But the world and it’s rushing and pressures all around, feel like a wild ocean and we get tumbled around, around and around, and around – that we forget the foundation from which we stand – that ‘Jesus loves me’ , we forget, and we lose our ground. We must be reminded of what we knew all along, “the Lord is my strength, He is my song…” could it be we’ve forgotten what we learned so long ago: “Yes, Jesus loves me. Yes, Jesus loves me. Yes, Jesus loves me, the Bible tells me so.”
Oh, how I want to ‘fix’ the stress and the strife. It’s part of my nature, but I know I just can’t. I can’t fix it at all. I can’t give you the moon – but I can point you to the Son, who is ruler of all. He will show you which way He wants you to go. He has a plan, He has a future, you know. He will guide you with His eye. But you must look to Him – look to Him again. Don’t try to figure it out all alone at this time, please know what you knew when you just a little guy:
“Jesus love me, He who died. Heaven’s gate to open wide. He will wash away my sin, let His little child come in…”
If you’re not convinced and have grown in ‘disbelief’ can I remind you again, we have an enemy who is a thief. He wants to ‘steal, kill, and destroy all that is God’s, but I’m here to tell you, he has lied and is defeated. Jesus loves you so very much, take a look at the tree that He willingly died. Do you see His arms, they are spread out wide, wide open for you, so very wide…
Deep and wide is His love forever. He has not cast you off, He has not given up. Turn around and receive of His grace, not just once, but over and over again – seek His face! Trust me, I tell you because I’m His ‘little one’ too, He caries me and loves me and fills me so full that I weep and I cry because He loves…you. Satan tells the same lie over and over, “God wants to hold out on you, He won’t be fair.” But when you’re tempted like Adam and Eve to sin, look at His arms spread out on that cross, and see for yourself the love that He has, just for you, just for you! He died on the cross for me and for you.
You don’t have the words to say in a prayer? They are right here, in the 3rd verse of the song, “Jesus take this heart of mine, Make it pure and wholly Thine; Thou has bled and died for me, I will hence-forth live for Thee.” Hey, and don’t let the enemy discourage you in fear that you just can’t live a life like that perfectly, it’s clear, that none of us can, no not one, but He will help, He helps me each day. He is my strong tower I run to – just trust and obey!
“The Lord is my strength and my song and He is become my salvation” moment by moment, day after day. Please know this forever, forever and especially, today! Ask God to give you a willing heart, to even sing as a child, His little one again. The words are written so you may sing along with them, put some sound on your breath, you will experience power the moment you say: “Jesus take this heart of mine, Make it pure and wholly Thine; Thou has bled and died for me, I will hence-forth live for Thee.”
My children, I love you so very much. I don’t always have the right words to say, but I want you to know God does, each and every day. So open His word, His love letter to you. He can fix the stuff the world throws at you. He is greater and bigger than all that you see, Yes, Jesus loves you and He loves me. There is no fear in love. There is no fear of death. Jesus took all our garbage, our sin, and our debt and He stretched out His arms on the cross that dark day that we might always know of His love, and say:
“Jesus loves me! He will stay, Close beside me all the way; He’s prepared a home for me, And someday His face I’ll see. Yes, Jesus loves me, Yes, Jesus loves me, yes Jesus loves me – the Bible tells me so!”
